How doubles routines sharpen your finishing
This doubles routine sharpens your finishing under pressure. Tips for your doubles routine
Commit to your line before you throw
Most missed doubles aren't accuracy problems — they're commitment problems. You aim at D16, then second-guess mid-throw and pull into D8. Pick your double, pick your entry point, and throw with conviction. A confident miss beats a hesitant one.
Track which doubles you miss most
Don't practice all doubles equally. Track your checkout percentage by double in Dartsva. If D20 is 40% but D16 is 15%, you know exactly where to spend your time. Most players over-practice the doubles they're already good at.
Common mistake: aiming at the whole double
"Just hit the double" is not a target. Pick a specific segment within the double — the inside edge, the wire, the bed. A specific target gives your brain something to lock onto.
How to progress
When you're hitting 4/5 on Doubles 16–20 in practice, add pressure. Play Bob's 27 with a target score (finish above 15). Once that's consistent, move to Pressure Doubles where one miss resets your streak.
