Tips for your checkout routine
Know your routes before you step up
The difference between a good finisher and a great one is preparation. Before each attempt, know exactly what you're throwing: first dart target, second dart option, third dart finish. No deciding at the oche. The Gauntlet forces this — use that mindset in every checkout drill.
Master the most common checkouts first
40, 32, 36, 20, 16, 24, 48, 56, 64, 72 — these ten checkouts account for the majority of your finishing opportunities. Drill these until they're automatic before moving to 70+, 80+, or 100+.
Common mistake: switching routes mid-visit
You're on 70. First dart misses tops. So you switch to bull-bull-double and miss everything. Pick one route and commit. If you miss, you miss on your terms. Switching mid-visit guarantees neither route works.
How to progress
Track which checkouts you convert and which you don't. If 121 is 80% but 70 is 40%, you've found your weak spot. Spend extra reps there. Once you're above 60% on any checkout, add pressure: give yourself 3 attempts to hit it or do 10 push-ups.
